Our school in Buchanan, Help Liberia Foundation Community School, has ended the 2025/2026 school year, giving students and teachers the opportunity to have a two-month break.

The closing program was attended by students, teachers, parents, Board members, etc. The program was characterized by various activities carried out by students and statements made by school officials.

Of course, some students passed, while others failed. No matter the status of each student, they all now have a two-month beak before starting the 2026/2027 school year in September.

The new Information Sheets were given out during the program. Registration for the 2026/2027 academic year will start next month (August), and classes will begin in September.

As usual, the announcement has already been made that we will be running a free school (no tuition) for needy children. Their parents will only be required to pay a minimum registration fee. Our goal is to give education to as many needy kids as possible.

At this juncture, we wish to express our sincerest appreciation to all of you who helped us, directly or indirectly, to operate the school and give education to these needy children. We remain forever grateful to you for your support. We wouldn’t have been able to make it if you had not come in with your support. Thank you!

Thanks also to our parents who entrusted their children to our care for the whole year. We also say thank you to the kids for starting and ending the school year. And thanks to our teachers for their patience and dedication.

We all worked together as a team to achieve this. We look forward to a more successful 2026/2027 school year!

Two new sponsors of our school in Buchanan have made a cash donation for the purchase of rice for the kids, the teachers, and other potential beneficiaries.

The two donors are a married couple, George Wass and Munah Nimely Wass. Munah is originally from Liberia, while George is a US citizen. They got married and are happily living together in the United States. Munah works with refugees and immigrants, while George works as a construction project manager.

The couple’s decision to help a Liberian school for poor children was heavily and undoubtedly influenced by Munah, and we are grateful to her for that positive and humanitarian influence on George.

A few days after publishing the last article about the purchase and distribution of seven bags of rice for the kids, teachers, as well as some parents and community residents, based on funds donated by our Norwegian sponsors, led by Sissel Lavoll Martinsen, George and Munah contacted HLF School, informing us about their desire to also purchase some rice for the same purpose.

A day or so later, they transferred $150 via our PayPal account on this (HLF School) website.Because the school closes this week, we have planned to purchase and distribute it as a July 26th (Liberia’s Independence Day) gift to the kids and the others on Saturday, July 25th. The announcement has already been made.

Our heart-felt thanks to George and Munah for this humanitarian gesture.

A little over a week ago, we informed you that the kids of Help Liberia Foundation Community School benefited from a rice distribution made possible by a cash donation from Sissel and her friends in Norway.

As you may recall, we also indicated that others, besides the students, benefited from the distribution, and the others were the teachers, some parents, and some community residents.

They were all appreciative of the gesture, and we are quite happy that we were able to help them in this regard.

As indicated in the previous article, we are thankful to Sissel Lavoll Martinsen and her friends for providing the funds that made us purchase and distribute the rice.
